Highly respected Ladies and Gentlemen!
On September, 18 at 3 p.m. in New York 62-nd session of the United Nations General Assembly will be opened.Intensive agenda will be proposed to representatives of the UN member-states.Session will start from the minute silence devoted to prayer and thoughts.At the same moment Belarusian social-democrats, citizens of good will in Belarus will think of disappeared politicians, political prisoners, about persons whose rights are breaking by the authorities in our country.At the same moment in the assembly hall Professor Aliaksandar KAZULIN also could be present. He was asked several years ago to become as a resident minister of the Republic of Belarus in the United Nations Organization. Later this appointment was cancelled because of A. Kazulin free-thinking. After Professor A. Kazulin gave a dare to Belarusian State-ruler and took an active part in Presidential elections on March, 25 2006 he was arrested. On July, 13 2006 ex-candidate for Presidency in Belarus, Chairman of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Hramada) was put into prison for 5 years 6 months.On September, 19 one year passed from the moment of verdict on A. Kazulin came into force.Independent observers, human rights defending organizations in Belarus and abroad, many of the international organizations consider criminal case against A. Kazulin as a politically motivated. “Amnesty International” recognized Aliaksandar Kazulin as a prisoner of conscience.Last year autumn Professor A. Kazulin who kept 53-days long political hunger-strike pressed for bringing up question on human rights violation in Belarus at UN Security Council meeting.At the present time General public prosecutor of the Republic of Belarus is considering complaint with A. Kazulin discharge demand.This complaint exhausts all the internal resources of appeal which are provided by Belarusian legislation. National juridical system is strongly rejecting of correcting laws and rights violations concerning A. Kazulin. Advocacy of A. Kazulin is preparing complaint to Human Rights UN Committee and papers will arrive to the Committee nearest days.We know that UN General Assembly on this session will consider problems of assistance to justice and international law, problems of human rights encouragement. We also know that official Belarusian delegation will propose “alternative” approach in human rights defending which will not leave any space for real rights defense of A. Kazulin as well as other Belarusian political prisoners.Therefore we are calling to UN General Assembly and UN bodies like High Commissioner Department, Human Rights Council, Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances take under control cases of disappearances in Belarus, politically motivated criminal cases, to demand from Belarusian government to meet its engagements in human rights field.We are calling to UN General Assembly and UN Committee on Human Rights to pay special attention for consideration the complaint about breaking by Republic of Belarus of many articles of the International Covenant on Civic and Political Rights regarding Professor A.
